Aurora lies 43km form Piketberg, 29km from Redlinghuys, 41km form Veldrif and 185km form Cape-Town. Sandveld, with the Piketberg mountains providing the perfect backdrop to the property.

Aurora is widely known for its beautiful sunsets, stars and stunning swathes of flowers in the flower season. The area is becoming more and more popular with cyclists, walkers and for people who are craving quietness and relaxation, away from work and social demands. Named after Ceylonia Aurora Perreira, the name of the first Dutch Reform Ministers daughter, others say Aurora was named after the Roman Goddess of dawn.

Aurora is a small village in between Piketberg and Veldrift, on the Road to Redlinghuys, if you follow the lovely scenic drive you will end up in Elands Bay and Lamberts Bay.

It’s a small agricultural village surrounded by mountains in the background and farms surrounding it, visitors come for the lovely night skies, the incredible flowers during the season, and the peace and quiet.

Two highlights to visit are the beautiful architectural Church completed  in 1908 by WF Ford. One of the most photographed buildings in Aurora by young and old.

It was here that the French astronomer Abbe Nicolas de la Caille, where his findings concluded that the world was pear shaped , which had a lot of the astronomers for decades trying to prove his findings were incorrect

Is the northern most point on which all surveys beacons in south Africa, The western beacon is on Kasteelberg and the southern beacon is on the corner of Adderley and Strand Street in Cape Town
